How it works

“Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.”
― Steve Jobs

We have worked hard to make backups simple and we continuously strive to improve our processes. Below is an example of a generic on-boarding process, however depending on your size and requirements, this process may change.

Sydney Backups team will perform all the necessary planning and implementation to reach the end goal, data protection and business resilience.

Step 1 - Account Registration

We will send you a simple questionary to fill to allows us to register a new account and provision secure cloud storage tailored to your needs. Alternatively, we can send one of our solution architects to your premisses to scope out and project backup and disaster recovery requirements. For larger projects we recommend to send our field engineers and solution architects to asses current infrastructure and systems state.

Step 2 - Backup & Disaster Recovery Solution

Once your Sydney Backups account has been created and backup & disaster recovery solution architected, we need to decide which of the following two storage types fit your needs best:

  • External USB disk backups + Cloud Backup Storage  (recommended for SMBs and Individuals)
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery Appliance + Cloud Backup Storage (recommended for SMBs and smaller corporates)
  • Dedicated Storage Server Infrastructure + Cloud Backup Storage (recommended for Medium and Large corporates)
Step 3 - Installation & Setup

Once your secure cloud backup account has been provisioned and backup storage obtained, Sydney Backups team will establish a secure remote session or send field engineers to install and configure the infrastructure and necessary softwares, prepare the systems and get you ready for a first backup. Depending on project size and business impact, we provide flexible hours of operation to have the project implemented with no or minimal impact to operations.

Step 4 - Backups kick off

Once the infrastructure and systems setup has been completed, we can start with a short pilot backup program and make sure everything operates as intended. Once fully satisfied, production stage can begin and first backup increments can be sent to the cloud storage account. To prevent large amounts of data transferred over the internet, we provide “seed storage” service to copy initial data on portable storage devices and directly have them transferred into our data centre.
